Head Professional: Travis Harrison


Travis has taken over the role of head professional at the Brighton Golf Course from the 1st of January 2009. Since taking this role Travis has developed the Brighton Golf Academy which is designed to help golfers of all abilities progress, achieve their goals and provide greater enjoyment during their games of golf.
Travis has spent the past 4 years as the assistant golf professional at the Northern Golf Club. During this time he has built up his knowledge of the game to become one of Melbourne’s elite level coaches. Travis has a university education in Sports Coaching has well has completing his 3 year PGA traineeship, which gives him a well rounded coaching style to include all technical, physical and psychological aspects of the game.


Using this holistic approach to coaching Travis is able to work with clients of any gender, age or ability and obtain the best possible results. When you start with the Brighton golf academy team your long term goals in the game will be discussed. Then a program will be developed which will provide realistic short term goals that will fast track you on the way to success.


Travis has access to all the latest coaching equipment including, video analysis, training aids, fitness programs, putt labs and much more. The key to having all this technology is knowing when and where to use it, this is where Travis’s extensive coaching knowledge comes into play.

Assistant Professional Alison Munt

Once ranked in the top 40 female golfers in the world Alison brings to the ‘Brighton Golf Academy’ a wealth of experience in the game of golf. As a multiple tournament winner on the United States, European, and Australian professional golf tours, Alison now offers the public this unique opportunity to learn the game of golf from one who has been to the very top. As a one of Australia’s leading amateurs Alison also represented Australia and Queensland, her native State, on numerous occasions.

Now retired from playing and settled in Melbourne she is keen to pass on her knowledge and experience to golfers of all abilities.
Alison is a PGA AA accredited member of the Australian PGA and a member of the British PGA. She undertook her PGA three year traineeship in the United Kingdom and graduated 4th out of a class of 320. She also holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Professional Golf Studies from the University of Birmingham, United Kingdom. Alison is PGA traditional in her technical coaching methods but from her own golfing journey advocates a holistic approach to development ensuring that her pupils are exposed to all aspects associated with improvement including technical, tactical, physiological and psychological principals.


As a member of the ‘Brighton Team’ Alison has access to all the latest coaching equipment including video analysis, training aids, fitness programs, putting labs and a host more; all of which will help improve your golf!

Trainee Professional: Steven Barnes

Having a love of all sports from a young age Steven began his golf at age 11 in his native homeland of South Africa. Progressing quickly through the junior rankings Steven began his competitive golf as Captain of his State team in u15s and u18s.


Being involved within the golf industry for over 13 years and having lived in Australia for 9 years, finally Steven decided that it was time to become a golf professional at the tender age of 31.
Being a dream of Stevens to be a professional golfer from a young age but unsure which pathway to take playing or coaching, he realised that his passion for golf lay in his ambitions to become a golf coach. With this in mind he knew this decision was correct,  growing the game of golf and helping others to improve their game would be extremely satisfying.


Steven is actively involved within the Brighton Golf Academy overseeing the Junior Programs that run throughout the year. He is a team member that is always striving for excellence in customer satisfaction and service.
