25/01/09 Getting the right advice!!! Answer these questions for me. Where do you go when your car breaks down? A. Mechanic B. One of your mates who drives fast. Where would you go if you had a bad head ache? A. Doctor B. Your sister who has never had a head ache Who would you see if you strained a muscle? A. Physio B. The guy next door who lifts weights all the time Who would you seek advice from when your golf game goes sour? A. A Professional B. Your mate who has a bigger slice than you. Seems pretty straight forward, I know I answered all A's. So why when it comes to playing golf do we start answering B. Whenever something goes wrong on the golf course we are always seeking advise from numerous different avenues but very rarely the right ones. For example: you have bladed a chip across the green and you playing partner says you lifted your head. I think we have all heard this many times, but I guarantee you did not lift your head and if you make a effort to keep your head down from then on, it could be the main reason why you will never chip well again. People will give this advice to try and help out, but end up causing more damage. They had probably received the same advice from another playing partner one day when they stuffed up a chip shot. It is a vicious circle in which many golfers get caught up in, before long they are standing over their golf shots with 15 different swing thoughts from 15 random golfers and now have no hope of hitting a good shot. So what do you do? It's easy! Only take advice from people who are trained and educated to give it. We follow this for everything else we do in life so why not golf. Book in with your professional, they will be able to answer any questions to do with your swing and leave you with a clear idea of the direction you need to go with your golf. One last thing just don't ask your golf pro to fix your car.
